On an Island

 on an island in the ocean
red Sun looming high
looking skyward while in motion
at an alien sky

waves keep crashing on the seashore
gull like birds they squawk
we have journeyed wanting much more
than just empty talk...

from the Earth and through the darkness
three months from there to here
accelerating through the starkness
decelerating near

Proxima in Centaurus
so close yet far away
shuttle landing with a roar as
we begin our stay...

on an island in an ocean
red Sun in the sky
we have fled the Earth's commotion
relaxing as we lie

on our backs and looking skyward
caressed by the warm air
in the present looking forward
on Planet B somewhere...

Water Power

 water in the atmosphere
water in the sea
water in the elements
and in you and me

flowing from the mountains
bubbling up in springs
tidal races rushing by
as water then begins

coriolian tendencies
determining the spin
of water going underground
through pipes and drains within

circular confinement
water falling down
spinning blades in turbines
powering all around

with electric ions dancing
all the way to where
words are formulating
in our minds to share

as we go about our lives
electricity
allows us to express ourselves
by flowing endlessly...
