want to leave...have to stay

in my car, drive off to
somewhere else, somewhere new
take a hike, disappear
to get close, to be near

trees and birds, flowing streams
mushrooms lit by, sunlight beams
fairies dancing...in my mind
slipping in and out of time -

rising up, from all around
lifting off, from the ground
floating up into a place
where I can, move in space

to a world, far away
from ordinary, every day
this and that, and everything
ready once more, to begin

to be alone...in a crowd
serenity amid the loud
ordinary, everyday
in a place, I want to stay

faster faster faster than
the speed of light as we began
moving through the plasma sea
beyond Sun's helio-spherically

electro-pause to I.S.M.
the space between the stars and then
deploying our vast EM scoop
then faster still from loop in loop

gathering electricity
from the currents flowing free,
powering the stars and too
energizing all we do

while on our way to Planet B
Proxima's planet mystery
faster faster still the stars
seem motionless and very far

the Sun, behind, a steady glow
Proxima seeming not to grow
for days and days through endless night
eventually a welcome sight

as Centaurus A & B both grew
Proxima seeming larger too...
then coming out of faster-than
speed-of-light where we began
