Hundred Thousand

Day 25 Month 1 (13 Moon Calendar)

audio/video

a hundred thousand waves laplap
rushing in and falling back
a hundred lightyears in between
where we're from and where we dream

we're by an ocean on a world
whose atmosphere is warmly swirled
air in motion as a breeze
blowing in from distant seas -

a hundred thousand grains of sand
slipping through my open hand
in the sky a hundred stars
from here to my home back on Mars

the only way we could survive
once that Earthlings had arrived
take our children as we fled
leave our planet as if dead -

a hundred thousand years have passed
living long it seemed so fast
since waking up to then find
we're all sharing cosmic mind

a hundred trillion in between
beings living as they teem
now that Earthlings have arrived
on Mars learning to survive -

we're by an ocean on a world
whose atmosphere is warmly swirled
air in motion as a breeze
blowing in from distant seas

a hundred lightyears in between
where we're from and where we dream
a hundred thousand waves laplap
rushing in and falling back
